editing of composed fields

Hi,
I've a problem while editing information like journal's references,...
in websubmit. The data are stored as
773 $p Title
$y Year
$c Pages
...
(that is, they all belong to a single datafield)
So, when I write the bibconvert tpl for editing, if I recreate the
record with all the subfields, I need to ensure that the user will
actually select all the subfields for editing, otherwise their value is
lost.
How do you solve this issue ??
